Description
For the Central Tagalog region in the Philippines, this bladed tool was designed for cracking coconuts and harvesting root crops. Eventually it evolved to become one of the deadly weapons of the Tagalog people. The Itak Tagalog was used by young boys who joined their father in the revolution; it was also carried by young women and their mothers to defend the town while the men were in the battlefields. This is the first of two variants and is from the Central Tagalog region.
